This notice applies to the consumer health data BeLov handles under the Washington My Health My Data Act and similar laws. It adds to our Privacy Policy; where the two differ for this kind of data, this notice controls. BeLov is for people aged 18 or older.
What health-related data we collect and why
- Face verification data (a selfie and the result of comparing it with your profile photos), only if you choose to verify: to confirm you are the person in your photos and to prevent impersonation and fraud. We do not keep the numeric match score. A selfie is discarded immediately when the match is clear; otherwise it is kept for human review or your appeal, for at most 30 days. The outcome is kept while your account exists.
- Crisis and abuse flags, when automated screening of a message you send detects possible self-harm, suicide or abuse: to show you support resources and to check that the screening works. We record a category and technical codes only, never the message. They are kept for 1 year or until you delete your account.
- Assessment answers and results that may say something about your emotional or mental wellbeing (for example emotional stability, attachment and how you handle stress), and anything you tell Sage about your health or wellbeing: to compute compatibility and give you private insights and coaching. They are kept while your account is active.
We do not collect precise location in order to track visits to health care facilities, and we do not use a geofence around any health facility.
Where it comes from
Only from you (what you answer, write, or capture in the app) and from automated checks that BeLov runs on what you send. We do not buy health data and do not get it from data brokers.
Who we share it with
We do not sell consumer health data and we do not share it for advertising. We do not share it with any other party for that party's own purposes. We disclose it only to the service providers that process it for us, only for the purposes above:
- Amazon Web Services (Rekognition): face verification comparison.
- OpenAI: AI coaching and insights, and message moderation, only if you agree to AI features.
- Supabase and Vercel: database, file storage and hosting.
We also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Consent
We ask for your separate agreement before we collect face verification data, and before AI features read your assessment results or messages. You can decline either and still use BeLov. We will ask for your signed authorization before any sale of consumer health data; we do not sell it.
Your rights
- Ask whether we collect or share your consumer health data, and get the list of third parties we share it with.
- Get access to it.
- Withdraw consent at any time: Settings → My AI Profile for AI features, Settings → Privacy & Data to limit sensitive data including face verification.
- Delete it: delete your account in Settings → Account (immediate), or email privacy@getbelov.com. We also tell our service providers to delete it, and remove it from archives and backups within 6 months.
We answer requests within 45 days, and may extend once by another 45 days when needed, telling you why. If we decline a request you can appeal by replying to our answer or emailing privacy@getbelov.com; we respond to appeals within 45 days. If you are still not satisfied you can contact the Washington Attorney General's office.
